A Lesson in Leadership
Tip # 11 - Be Consistent
|
According to the Business Dictionary, the definition for the Consistency Principle is that once an accounting method is adopted, it should be followed consistently from one accounting period to the next.
The Consistency Principle is applicable in our work and home life as well. If I say that I am a caring and compassionate person and then act just the opposite to those around me, then I am breaking the law of consistency. The effect of inconsistency will create feelings of tension. Remember, the greater the inconsistency, the greater the tension. Your work or home life may feel like confusion, uncertainty, dissonance, denial and irritation. However, great leaders realize that with consistency comes calmness, smoothness, and peace.
I have thought about what has made Tiger Wood's golf game so great. Besides his obvious talent for the sport, he possesses something no other player in the game does. He holds an absolute dedication to his mental game. Tiger is not great every now and then, but he is great on EVERY shot.
Do Today:
Ask a close friend to tell you in what areas that you have not been consistent. Then make a sincere choice to be reliable and dependable in all your endeavors and to become a man or a woman who stands by their word.
